Q&A with coach Rachel Crawford

How has your pre-season been?

Pre-season has been really positive. The focus has been on building fitness, strengthening our connections on court and creating a supportive environment across all grades, and getting pre-season matches in to come up with versatility and combinations throughout the three senior teams. We have had good numbers at training and there has been a great energy around the group. It's also been nice seeing players from different teams training together and building that whole club culture.

Any players from your side to look out for this season?

A few of our juniors stepping up into senior netball will be exciting to watch, and we have also got some strong leaders in the group who set a great example on and off the court. Overall, I think the strength of the team will come from everyone playing their role and working together.

What are your expectations?

Our main focus is continuing to build as a group and playing consistent team netball each week. If we can keep improving, supporting each other and enjoying our football and netball environment, the results will take care of themselves. It's about developing players, strengthening the club and being competitive each time we step on the court.

Who do you expect to see among the top teams?

The competition is always strong and there are a number of clubs who consistently perform well. Every week brings a new challenge, which is one of the great things about the league. Anywhere there are ex-O and M girls in teams, there will be competitive teams. They just have that experience of fast structured netball and what it takes to win games. Our focus will be on our own game and continuing to improve as the season goes on.

Prospects: The Cats produced a drought breaking victory in 2025 and will be hoping to convert some more wins on the board this season. With plenty of youth in the side, it will be about development and building confidence in the senior ranks.
